Came back from Alton Towers 2 days ago - my time there flew! My brother won a competition so me and my family could go there for two days and stay in either the Alton Towers Hotel or the Alton Towers Splash Landings hotel. We chose the former; it was amazing! I really couldn't guess how long it would have taken them to build it. There were fountains, fish, huge depictions of Sir Algenon (a traveller whose adventures inspired the building of the hotel)'s travels, the bed was comfy, we had a decent TV.... I couldn't have asked for more. The food we had was delicious too, although it was a bit pricey. We'd won a competition though, so we could get it for free! Bang tidy!
In the actual theme park we went on quite a lot of rides. I didn't go on any big rollercoasters, but my parents went on Nemesis, which looked absolutely terrifying! We went on Hex - "The Legend of the Towers", which had a bit of an overkill build-up but the ride was amazing - we'd gone on it before and instead of actually trying to experience the ride we were just trying to find out how the hell it worked! We also went on Duel, where you have to shoot ghosts and zombies, which was fun, and also "The Flume", which my brother hated, and the "Congo River Rapids", where you travel down a river in a yellow tub. We also went on the Squirrel Nutty ride, which was absolutely terrifying (!). So yeah, I had a brilliant time in a brilliant place.
